Our review
The Tronic Television Guard 13Amps is a protective device designed to sit between your television and the wall socket. Tronic is the brand behind it, and the 13-amp rating is the key figure to note, since it tells you the current load the unit is built around. It is aimed at households and small workplaces that want a basic layer of protection for a TV rather than a whole-building solution.
Before buying, check the plug type and socket layout in your home, and confirm that the appliances you plan to connect fall within a 13-amp limit. It also helps to think about how many outlets you need, because a single-socket guard and a multi-socket extension serve different setups.
Compared with a plain extension lead, a guard like this is about protection rather than just adding sockets. Compared with a full surge protector or voltage stabiliser, it is a simpler option. Match the device to what you are protecting, and check the rating before you commit. It is available on Sokonia.
