Tronic Single Deep Switch Box for Surface-Mounted Wiring

Our review

This Tronic box is a single deep pattress, the kind of enclosure you mount on the face of a wall rather than sinking into it. It exists for the situations where chasing or chiselling the wall is not an option, whether because the surface is concrete, tiled, or simply not yours to cut into. Surface mounting also tends to mean less dust and less mess than a recessed install, which matters in finished rooms.
It suits anyone adding a switch point to an existing wall, or replacing a damaged surface box. Before buying, check the depth you need: a deep box gives more room for wiring and for the back of the switch mechanism, but it stands further off the wall. Confirm the box matches the size and fixing centres of your switch plate, and that its material and finish suit the room. Compare against shallower pattress boxes and against flush mounting if the wall can be chased.
