Tronic Downlighter LED 5W Recessed Ceiling Light

Our review

This is a recessed ceiling downlight from Tronic, rated at 5 watts and built around a pearly optical lens that spreads light softly rather than in a harsh beam. The spring clips do double duty: they hold the fitting firmly in the ceiling cutout and help move heat away from the LED, which matters in a warm climate where drivers and chips age faster if heat builds up. It suits someone lighting a corridor, wardrobe area, bathroom or small room where a gentle wash of light is wanted instead of a bright spotlight. Before buying, measure your existing ceiling cutout and check the depth above the plasterboard, since recessed fittings need clearance for the body and clips. Also confirm the colour temperature and beam angle you want, because a 5W downlight is a modest output and may need several units to light a larger room evenly. Compare it with surface-mounted spots, which are easier to fit where there is no ceiling void, and with higher-wattage downlights if you need stronger light. Available on Sokonia.
