Silverdome RFD-128 126L Double Door Fridge with Top Freezer

Our review

The Silverdome RFD-128 is a compact double-door refrigerator with the freezer on top, splitting its 126 litres into 89 litres of fridge space and 29 litres of freezer space. That makes it a sensible fit for a single person, a couple, or a small household that shops fresh a few times a week rather than storing a fortnight of groceries. The four-star freezer compartment and tropicalized compressor are the details worth noting here, since the compressor is designed with warmer ambient conditions in mind, which matters in Tanzania. Cooling is described as fast, and the defrost type is manual, so you should expect to empty and defrost the freezer periodically rather than relying on automatic cycles. The shelves are toughened glass, which handles loaded pots and bottles better than wire, and the refrigerant is R600a, a CFC-free option. Temperature control is mechanical, meaning a simple dial instead of digital settings. Before buying, measure the gap where it will stand and confirm the door swing clears your kitchen layout, and check the plug point reaches. Compare it against other 120 to 130 litre two-door models on freezer star rating, compressor type, and whether defrosting is automatic or manual, because those three things affect daily use more than capacity alone. It is available on Sokonia.
