Tronic Black Satellite Socket, 90mm Bakelite Wall Outlet

Our review

This is a wall-mounted satellite socket from Tronic, finished in black and built around a bakelite housing. Its job is simple: give a satellite cable a fixed, tidy termination point at the wall while keeping signal loss to a minimum, which matters more than most people expect once a run gets long. It suits anyone wiring a room for a satellite receiver, tidying up a loose cable dangling from a wall, or replacing a worn outlet that has started to feel loose when a plug is inserted. The 90mm by 90mm face is a standard sort of size, so check the dimensions of the box or cutout you are fitting it to before ordering, and confirm the cable connector type you use matches the socket. The 250V AC 50/60Hz rating covers ordinary mains-style installation conditions, and bakelite is a traditional, hard-wearing material for this kind of fitting. Compare it with plastic-faced alternatives if appearance matters, and with combined TV and satellite plates if you need both connections in one position. A one-year warranty is stated by the brand. Available on Sokonia.
