Tronic Smart Socket 13A Wi-Fi Plug with Alexa and Google Home

Our review

This is a Wi-Fi smart socket from Tronic rated at 13 amps, the standard plug rating for most household appliances in Tanzania. It connects to your home network so you can switch whatever is plugged into it from your phone, and it works with Alexa and Google Home if you already use either voice assistant. The scheduling function is the part worth thinking about: you can set a charger or similar device to turn on and off at fixed times rather than leaving it running. That suits renters and homeowners who want a simple way to cut standby waste without rewiring anything. Before buying, check that your router's Wi-Fi reaches the socket's location, since a weak signal is the usual reason these devices drop offline. Also confirm the appliance you plan to use stays within the 13A rating. Compared with basic mechanical timers, this gives you remote control and voice commands, but it depends on your network and a companion app, so it is less foolproof if the internet goes down. If you only need fixed daily switching and nothing smart, a plain timer costs less and never disconnects.
