Our review
This is a hand tool for anyone who regularly cuts and strips electrical wire, whether you are wiring a house, repairing appliances or working on vehicle electrics. The Ingco HWSP851 is an 8.5 inch (215 mm) wire cutter and stripper with a sharp edge, a push-down wire function and a stripping function that covers seven wire sizes. It also cuts five kinds of copper screw size, which makes it useful when you are trimming machine screws as well as cable. Before buying, think about the wire gauges you actually work with and whether a single tool covering both cutting and stripping saves you switching between pliers. Compare it with dedicated automatic strippers, which are faster on repetitive work, and with plain side cutters, which cut cleanly but cannot strip insulation. Check the jaw condition and handle grip on arrival, and keep the cutting edge away from hardened steel or live circuits. It suits electricians, technicians and serious DIY users more than someone who only needs to strip a cable once.
