Hitachi 14kg Twin Tub Top Load Washing Machine PS-1405SJ

Our review

This is a manual twin tub washer from Hitachi with a 14kg wash capacity and a 12kg spin side, sold under model number PS-1405SJ. Because both tubs are separate, you wash in one and move the load to the other to spin, which suits households with heavy weekly laundry, large families, or anyone washing bulky items like blankets and curtains. The painted steel body with a plastic base is built to resist rust, and the collars and cuffs washboards help with the grubby edges school shirts and work clothes collect. The beat blade design uses a big and small blade together to push water through the load, and Air Jet Dry helps move air over clothes after spinning. Before buying, think about whether you have space for two tubs and a tap nearby, since manual machines are filled by hand rather than plumbed in like a front loader. Compare it with automatic top loaders if you want less hands-on work, and with smaller twin tubs if 14kg is more than your household needs. Available on Sokonia.
